Hey Everyone! Man, have I ever been missing you guys! I hope everyone at school is doing well, that the show (can't believe I'm missing it!) is a big success, and that you haven't forgotten that dance major classes are meant for more than watching movies! I've sent a new set of instructions in for today and tomorrow...mostly background research for the DMB's and choreography time for the DMA's. One of the sheets for the DMB's asks you to compare characteristics of contemporary dance with characteristics of (Chilean) folk dance. Answer the following questions for each style of dance: How do the dancers use their arms? Feet and legs? Torso? Describe the movements, shapes, tempo and size. What relationships, pathways and formations are used by the dancers? Describe the relationship between the accompaniment and the dance. Here are some examples you can examine. Watching the whole video will give you more information than watching just the first 30 seconds! And here is an instructional video on basic steps and movements: And now for contemporary dance This should help!
